The purpose of the protection is to,

in the area of the east and south bank

  • preserve the special recreational value for the general public, in particular to allow access to the lake at the places marked for this purpose, but also to
  • Protect the remaining remnants of natural riparian and water's edge vegetation units there from further decline, while preserving them as habitat for various animal species such as little grebes, kingfishers, dippers, warblers, wrens, etc.;

in the area of the western shore including the wet meadows and the Devil's Lake

  • Preserve the breeding and spawning sites present there and protect the diversity of plant species present, especially yellow iris, bulrush, marsh marigold, troll flower, common primrose, stemless gentian, orchids, etc.;

in the area of the north bank

  • preserve the characteristic image of the cultural landscape (alternation of water, forest and pasture areas) in its beauty, in particular to keep it free from alienation and recreational traffic, and
  • Preserve the reeds etc. present in the riparian area.
