  • Size: Approx. 718 hectares
  • Location: The Mühlbach Valley in the municipalities of Böhen, Grönenbach and Wolfertschwenden in the district of Unterallgäu and in the market town of Dietmannsried in the district of Oberallgäu

The purpose of the protection is to,

  • ensure the recreational value of the area, given by a naturally meandering stream in the open valley bottom and by slopes and ridges partly forested close to nature, interrupted by ravines,
  • ensure the efficiency of the natural and especially the water balance by protecting the spring-rich slope forests and the wet meadows with valuable plant stands and
  • to preserve the geological evidence of a glacial reedbed with nail flow outcrops and the well-preserved fortification dating back to the early history of man, as well as the remains of two castle stables.
