- Size: About 86 hectares
- Location: on both sides of the former Kempten - Isny railroad line between Hellengerst and Schwarzerd and on both sides of the B12 federal road in the communities of Weitnau and Buchenberg
The purpose of the protection is to,
- Maintain and restore the natural site conditions of the peatland areas,
- to enable the regeneration of the disturbed parts of the peatland,
- Maintain the tranquility of the area and avoid and reduce disturbance, especially in the central parts of the marsh and marginal groves.,
- Maintain and restore near-natural forest stands (mixed mountain forest and moorland edge forest),
- bring the cloven-hoofed game to area-adapted population sizes, and
- to preserve and promote extensive meadow uses.
