The purpose of the protection is to,
- maintain the special recreational value for the general public in the area of the eastern shore, in particular to enable access to the pond at the designated places, but also
- Preserve the reed beds, marshes and wet meadows present on the banks of the pond as habitats, breeding and spawning grounds for the animal and plant species present there,
- preserve the beauty of the characteristic image of the cultural landscape, in particular to keep it free from alienation by recreational traffic.
