  • Size: Approx. 163 hectares
  • Location: Summit slopes on Fellhorn, Schlappolt-Kopf and Söller-Kopf, Schlappolt lakes in Oberstdorf

The purpose of the protection is to,

  • secure the only flysch area in the Bavarian Alps that has almost reached the alpine altitude level,
  • Protect the population of dwarf shrub heaths, alpine grasslands and numerous rare species of flowering plants, mosses and lichens,
  • preserve the site conditions (rocks: limestones, clay shales and micaceous sandstones) necessary for the continued existence of this rare alpine flora and to ensure a stable vegetation cover as protection against erosion and
  • Protect Schlappoltkar lakes and alpine stillwater biotopes.
